The 28th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) opened on 27 October at the HKCEC, alongside the 11th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo at AsiaWorld-Expo. Under the theme "Beyond Illumination", the twin fairs bring together some 3,000 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions.
The Hall of Connected Lighting, one of this year's highlights, gathers around 70 leading brands, with the DALI Alliance, the Connectivity Standards Alliance and the Zhaga Consortium appearing together and KNX, the global standard for smart building automation, making its fair debut. Buyer expectations for commercial projects are shifting from "bright enough" to "dimmable, connected and certified" - DALI dimming, flicker-free output and high colour rendering are becoming must-haves for commercial downlights and spotlights.
The Hall of Aurora presents some 500 design-led brands, while human-centric lighting drew strong attention: low-dose UVB light that mimics natural sunlight to support vitamin D production, and circadian-rhythm lighting that adjusts colour automatically, opening new possibilities for "healthy light" in commercial and residential spaces.
For Chinese manufacturers, this year's fair sends a clear signal: overseas sourcing is moving from volume to value, where light quality, dimming capability, connectivity protocols and international certification all matter. As an LED downlight, spotlight and commercial lighting manufacturer, KINXZO will keep tracking DALI dimming and smart lighting trends, delivering high-CRI, dimmable commercial lighting solutions that better fit overseas project needs.
