The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and SAMR jointly published the 2026 edition of the catalogue of products subject to China's energy efficiency labelling scheme. Road and tunnel lighting LED luminaires must comply with the labelling rules from June 1, 2026.
In practice this means such luminaires sold in China need an energy label on the nameplate or packaging, and e-commerce platforms and project procurement will check it. For factories focused on outdoor lighting and municipal projects, this is a mandatory compliance step, not an optional extra.
The label catalogue keeps expanding — from home appliances to lighting — and the direction is clear: energy data is becoming a baseline requirement for lighting products entering the Chinese market. It makes sense to build label applications into the normal new-product workflow.
